New Research Published

New Research Published

Chiropractic Abingdon VA Consultation

Today my research paper was published! I have been waiting awhile for it to be published, but this is understandable due to the extensive review and publishing process. I sent the paper to the journal for review and honestly haven’t thought about it for awhile. I was touching up on my presentation on chiropractic and children with neurodevelopmental disorders this morning because I have 2 presentations this week, and my friend text me congratulating me on my paper. It was a nice surprise to see that text because that was the first I heard about it. It has been a goal of mine since I started chiropractic school to publish a paper, and today I achieved that goal. It definitely took a lot of work, mostly because I was unfamiliar with the writing process and what was required. This paper involved a lot of additional research because of the literature review portion. In addition to researching and explaining the condition the person was suffering from, I had to find all other papers written on the subject and write a summary of each and the compare my case to them. I wouldn’t say it was difficult, but a tedious task because of multitasking with many papers and articles open all at the same time and putting it all together so it makes sense! It was not easy trying to find where you left off each day when starting to work on it again. I will be writing more papers in the future, and now that I know the process it will go much more smoothly.

Improved Thyroid Function Following Chiropractic Care to Reduce Vertebral Subluxation: A Case Study & Review of the Literature

My paper was written about a gentleman who was receiving chiropractic care at the office where I was doing my residency. Years prior to his chiropractic experience he started noticing fatigue and slurred speech. He was tested and found to have hypothyroidism and was prescribed synthroid, an artificial thyroid hormone at 1 per day. After 2 months of regular chiropractic care his blood work showed normal and after 8 months he did not need to take the synthroid any longer. Due to his schedule he could not continue his normal schedule of visits but is still able to come in for periodic check ups. He now only needs 1 synthroid per week instead of 7.

It is amazing to see the boost your body gets from an adjustment and the importance of consistent care! This person came to us with neck and back pain but had no idea how far reaching an adjustment could have been for his health. This is what makes me excited to share the story of chiropractic.
